The Necrology Database

The Necrology Database expands on the former Obituary Database.  This older effort was a compilation by Janice Terrill of all the death notices that appeared in the Mineral Point newspapers.  In 2017, this compilation was converted to a modern database by Joel Gosse, the Mineral Point Archives Assistant Curator. The Database now includes burials dates and places.

The Necrology Database can be searched by first, last and maiden name, date of birth and death, as well as burial site.  In addition, a newspaper source for a person's obituary may be included.  Any newspaper entry of an obituary is retrievable in the Archives from the microfilm collection.

The database is updated regularly.  Please contact the Mineral Point Library Archives with the name of the person you are researching.  The Archives will be glad to tell you what we have.  Please note: searching is done during regular Archives hours.  Staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
