The Mineral Point Library Archives is a great place to volunteer. Working with historical materials and media can be a fascinating way to contribute to the Mineral Point community. Many Archives jobs do not require any computer skills. Some jobs do require that you are comfortable with a computer. Choose your task and number of hours.
Volunteers need to work in the Archives when the Curator or Assistant Curator is present (Thursday or Saturday.)
Current opportunities include:
- combing through the vertical files to find original documents
- keeping the Surname Index up to date
- helping to organize existing collections in preparations for their use
- updating the Necrology database
- updating the Old City Cemetery Restoration Project database
- helping to preserve works on paper and photographs using archival material
- updating the Reference Library Index
The Mineral Point Library Archives has relied upon the generous donation of volunteers' time and talent since its beginning. To be part of saving Mineral Point's heritage, please contact the Mineral Point Library Archives.
